Building Relationships...Without Using the Phone (Say, What?)

Wednesday, December 17th 2014 @ 4:00am

Let’s talk, shall we? (Not on the phone, though….who has the time?) Here’s the deal…whether we like it or not, times have changed. People don’t talk on the phone anymore. They just don’t. Okay, so maybe that’s a bit of an exaggeration but, believe it or not, many people prefer NOT to talk on the phone. People are busier than they have ever been and don’t have time to pick up the phone to have a conversation. It’s sort of sad, isn’t it? Don’t get us wrong…we know some of you still LOVE to talk on the phone and that’s awesome! But for many of your customers and hostesses, texting is the preferred way of communication. Remember way back when (read: a few years ago) all we needed to do was pick up the phone to get a booking or to connect with a customer? Like it or not, that isn’t the case anymore. People are still ON the phone….just not talking into it!   So what do we do? Quit? Stop calling and give up on getting bookings or connecting with our peeps? No way!! We just have to learn HOW to communicate effectively! Think about your favorite way of communicating with customers and hostesses. We bet the majority of you said text. (Holler!) Did you know that over 50% of hostesses and customers prefer texting?! (Yep, you read that right!) Some of you might be thinking, “Texting is easier but how is that building relationships?” This is a more effective way of communicating which means you’re actually connecting with someone!! And that is WAY more personal than calling someone over and over again in hopes that this time they’ll pick up the phone. And you know what? When you connect with them (via text, Facebook, etc.), you’re able to give them good service and make it personal FOR THEM. (Preach it sistas!)
